The Windy City

I took the three mutts on a journey across the country to visit a good friend in Chicago. Getting out of Texas took half the trip, then it was smooth sailing. I love that my dogs travel so well. They slept the entire way there and the entire way back. Even the puppy. I was worried what Tempie would do when we got there. I was prepared to crate her the entire time and only let her out by myself. But she walked in and acted like she had spent her entire life in that house and it was perfectly normal for her to love everyone. I'd say this is a pretty huge step in her progress.

Between my friend and I, there were six dogs in the house. It sounds like it would be chaotic, especially when none of the dogs had met each other before, but everything went really smoothly. Except for the snow... I had never seen snow before. It was fun. It was beautiful. But mainly, it was awful! I hate the cold. And Boone agreed with me. He spent most of the time huddled in my jacket.

The girls, on the other hand, took to the snow like they were made for it. Of course, Raja really was, I suppose. And you can tell! She looked beautiful in it, and she had a blast. She and my friend's Koolie were completely in love with each other.

I just got home last night, and I miss them already.

  1. Great post, but not long enough. I want to hear more! Sweet Boone, what a cutie. And the picture of the 3 running in the snow would be a gorgeous poster!

  2. *gasp*!Did you cut your hair??! The pictures are beautiful! I went to Chicago in the summer, so I saw another side of the city. I don't like the cold, either, but the dry cold for snow isn't tooooo bad, if I can bundle up enough. Glad it all went smoothly! :) P.S. You look super cute in your cowboy hat. ;)

  3. Glad you had such a great time. I love road trips with my dog as well. She is amazing company in the car.

I love the photo of the three on the bench. So cute. I hope you are much warmer now that you are home.

  4. Looks like you had a blast. It must be so nice to travel with your dogs - I'm looking into taking a short vacation with Marge someday, perhaps up to a place like remote Maine where she can run along the lakeside and go hiking in the woods..

Nice to hear what you've been up to!

  5. Great pics!!!

Khyra amazed me our trip to MN/IA and back - prior to that, the longest we had travelled was three hours or so - but our first day of 12 hours was a piece of cake -
